Vesparax is an antipsychotic medicine. It works by changing the actions of chemicals in the brain. Vesparax is used to treat schizophrenia in adults and children who are at least 13 years old. Vesparax is used to treat bipolar disorder in adults and children who are at least 10 years old. Vesparax is also used together with antidepressant medications to treat the major depressive disorder in adults. Extended-release Vesparax is for use only in adults and should not be given to anyone younger than 18 years old. Vesparax may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

Vesparax sustained-release tablets are best taken in the evening. Take it by mouth on an empty stomach or with a light meal.

The most commonly reported Adverse Drug Reactions (ADRs) with Vesparax (≥10%) are drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, withdrawal (discontinuation) symptoms, elevations in serum triglyceride levels, elevations in total cholesterol (predominantly LDL cholesterol), decrease in HDL cholesterol, weight gain, reduced hemoglobin, and extrapyramidal symptoms.
Given the primary central nervous system effects of Vesparax, Vesparax should be used with caution in combination with other centrally acting drugs and alcohol. Cytochrome P450 (CYP) 3A4 is the enzyme that is primarily responsible for the cytochrome P450 mediated metabolism of Vesparax.
